In 2010, Joy Global expressed a need to redevelop its intranet using a proven methodology that considered the needs and requirements from all of Joy Global’s 10,000+ employees. At the time the project began, half of Joy Global’s employees were inside the US and the intranet is focused heavily on this user base for obvious reasons. Joy Global wanted to develop a strategy for the redevelopment of the intranet that will ensure a less US-centric feel to the intranet, resulting in a refreshed intranet that encourages all global employees to use regularly, and in turn, provides significant productivity and cost-savings for Joy Global.
