The following doctors are regular contributors to Prescient eHealth (and client sites), as well as members of our Advisory Board.

Dr. Art Hister

Dr. Art Hister (McGill MD ’70) was the first full-time physician with the Pine Free Clinic, the first Canadian clinic established to deal exclusively with transient youth.

In 1977, Dr. Hister established a private practice in family medicine in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver. In 1991, he gave up his practice to become a full-time “media doctor”. Since then, Dr. Hister has had a wide media career, and has won numerous awards including the Holobon Award from the Canadian Public Health Association as Canada’s top public health educator.

For radio, Dr. Hister currently hosts the radio show House Calls, heard across much of Canada on the Corus Radio Network, he is a daily health analyst on The World Today heard on CKNW in Vancouver, and he is the in-house doctor for Up All Night on BBC 5 in the UK. On TV, Dr. Hister is a health columnist for Global TV News in Vancouver.

Dr. Hister is the author of Dr. Art Hister’s Guide To Living A Longer and Healthier Life (Greystone Books, 2003), Midlife Man (Greystone Books, 1998), Dr. Art Hister’s Do-It-Yourself Guide to Health (Random House Canada, 1989), as well as numerous articles for publications such as Reader’s Digest, Canadian Living, The Globe and Mail and

Away from broadcasting, Dr. Hister has served on the boards of many organizations including Vancouver’s Co-op Radio, the Vancouver International Film Festival, CKNW Orphans’ Fund, The Vancouver Holocaust Centre, and the C.H.I.L.D. Foundation, dedicated to children with bowel and liver disease.

Dr. Susan Biali

Susan Biali, M.D. is a general practitioner and freelance health writer based in Vancouver. Dr. Biali has a degree in Dietetics, and is the author of “Food for Thought”, a monthly nutrition column in the Medical Post. She has written for and appeared as a medical expert in Chatelaine and other national magazines, has appeared on television, and has spoken to audiences on various topics, from current issues in nutrition to the mind-body connection.

Dr. Biali’s mission is to teach people how to create optimal wellness through good health practices and a balanced life. She is currently writing a book on this subject and is a regular contributor to
